At the turn of the century, a Vampire named Don Tessaro moves to New York City to start a new life, away from the Vampire-Hunters in Romania. Accompanying him is his "shadow," a creature named Scary which only he can see. Scary has special abilities which help him survive in the big city. As Don becomes disillusioned with city life, he becomes involved in New York's gangs while starting his own.
