The Invader, an enormous alien entity, devastates the world, implanting gargantuan, bio-manufactories into Earth's volcanoes. Sixty years later, humanity is nearly extinct. Ami, who lives in an underground colony in Japan, searches the surface for supplies. She is nearly killed by an alien creature when an archaic samurai appears and saves her. The mysterious warrior and Ami begin a journey towards the volcano Mount Asama and the salvation of humankind.
