Every year Vaesi has watched her friends die during the annual Assay Games. Hunter's are brought into the premises and houses of children are released, starting from the youngest. Each time a house is defeated, the hunters advance and the next set of older kids is released. This continues until the hunters are finally at a disadvantage. Only then does the savage killing game end. That is, until next year.
