An experimental piece of biotech was distributed around the world that alters the DNA of young, prepubescent humans in order for them to develop the abilities of “devices” or “chargers”. Devices are able to use the biotech to manifest superpowers. This, however, eats up a lot of their energy so they need a way to replenish it fast.
