Maelstrom, or Mael for short, has spent her entire, admittedly short life living by the shore with her parents. She loves nothing better than chasing crabs, swimming in the surf, and looking for pretty rocks by the cliffs. However, when her parents send her to visit her crabby Uncle Pinnacle for a few weeks, a mysterious set of circumstances prevent her from returning to her beloved shore, and she is forced to navigate the divisive topic of her heritage, as well as her uncle's aversion to her.
