306 A.D. Constantine the Great was crowned emperor of Western Rome. At sea, an old friend of Constantine, Lucius Aurelius Valerius, finds himself at the mercy of pirates following a raid on his estate in Napolis resulting in the death of his wife. After leaving a path of blood at his wake, Lucius sets off to find his daughter. After requesting assistance from his once childhood friend he is conscripted into his ranks as his personal assassin forcing him to relive the life he left behind.
