In a alternate future where those who wish to die get to live peacefully till death, without working at all unless they wished for it, eating for free and doing whatever they wanted, and people who wanted to live worked extremely hard, where they were mistreated severely and many were malnourished just to extend their miserable lives. This society became into a caste, causing those who wanting to life, forced to death while those who whished to die due to unfavorable mistreatment, could not.
