Taro is a well-respected botanist, but his village is a tad peculiar. Nine months of the year, the entire population lives under a flood over a kilometre deep, in airtight pods. When one year, the flood refuses to tide, the rest of the town slowly dies off. Taro is the last man standing and finds he gained an ability - the Tragedy of Water, which protects him. He uses his newfound knowledge and power to go from town to town to help people - until he meets a young girl who also lost everything...
